Disturbance leads to shots fired near McLane High, deputies say. It started near AutoZone
A disturbance Wednesday afternoon led to shots fired near McLane High.
The shots fired were near an AutoZone store at Clinton and Cedar avenues around 3:40 p.m.
Deputies arrived and found no gunshot victims, spokesman Tony Botti said.
Deputies learned there was a disturbance between a large group of students that attend McLane.
A gun was pulled out and several shots were fired, causing everyone to run away.
Bullets struck a parked vehicle and a building, Botti said.
Witnesses helped deputies by giving them descriptions of the people involved, including the gunman.
About 30 minutes after the shooting, deputies detained a person matching the description of the gunman, Botti said.
Deputies are working closely with Fresno Police’s School Resource Officer at McLane to learn more about the people involved and what may have led to the initial argument.
