Doctor Who is getting a new exhibition in time for its 60th anniversary this year.

The BBC has announced that Weston Museum in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, will host Adventures in Time and Space — 60 Years of Doctor Who Art in November.

The exhibition will showcase a ton of physical and digital art from across the show's entire history, including from Ncuti Gatwa's upcoming tenure as The Doctor.

Fans can expect to see book covers, VHS video covers, annuals, comics, graphic novels, digital art and a painting that debuted within the show itself. Some of it is expected to be very rare, as the organisers have sourced art from collectors in the fandom.

"The exhibition will unfold like the pages of a well-worn book," museum director Becky Walsh said, promising a "heart-warming journey for Whovians of all generations".

"Hold onto your sonic screwdrivers as we journey back to the roots of the longest-running sci-fi extravaganza known to humanity," she added.

The previous Doctor Who Exhibition was situated in Cardiff and ran between 2005 and 2011 before being retooled into The Doctor Who Experience in a nearby venue. This was more of a tour guided by The Doctor themselves, and it lasted until 2017.

Unlike the upcoming experience, these exhibitions focused more on props from the revival series and were constantly being updated.

The 60th anniversary will be celebrated by a trio of specials in November. The specials will see former showrunner Russell T Davies returning and actors David Tennant, Catherine Tate and Bernard Cribbins reprising their roles (well, it's technically a new incarnation of The Doctor, but still).

Ncuti Gatwa will then front a festive special before having his first full series in the role air next year.

Doctor Who returns later in 2023 on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Meanwhile, in the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on Max.
