Dog lost on B.C. mountain for 2 weeks found alive

A dog lost on North Vancouver's Mount Seymour for nearly two weeks has been recovered by search and rescue crews.

Ohly, a two-year-old Bernese, took off from a Mount Seymour parking lot Nov. 25, then was spotted some distance away in the community of Deep Cove, and later on a mountain ski run.

The dog was spotted in steep terrain by a rescue helicopter Saturday morning but it took several hours for rescue crews to recover the dog.

Twelve members of North Shore Search and Rescue were tracking the dog but spokesperson Tim Jones says it was a difficult task because the dog has gone wild and wouldn't respond to its owner.

The missing family pet inspired a massive search response as animal lovers from across B.C.'s Lower Mainland pitched in to help.
