I Don’t Like the Lakers or the Celtics, but I Love Their New Collaborative Gear

Fandom is a strange thing. I was raised outside Philly and currently live in NYC, meaning that I'm legally obligated to a) root for the Sixers, and b) hate Boston sports teams (among other things, but I'm paring it down for the moment). And yet here I am, gazing at the new collaboration between CLOT and Mitchell & Ness-featuring gear for the Lakers and the Celtics-and I'm into it.

The throwback jerseys and shorts are a kind of one-two punch, blending CLOT's streetwear knowledge and cultural currency with M&N's athletic expertise. They're also knitted from merino wool, giving them a whole different look and feel than what we're used to from sports-inspired apparel. The word "elevate" gets tossed around a lot when it comes to collabs, but in this case, well...that's exactly what the new fabrication does.

SHOP CLOT x MITCHELL & NESS

The capsule collection was created for All-Star Weekend, and includes three Celtics pieces and four for the Lakers. Owing to the elevated construction, the jerseys and shorts aren't exactly cheap-you're looking at $300-$500 price tags-but for dedicated fans of basketball, fashion, or both, they're the kind of pieces you snatch up because they simply don't come around that often.

Need proof of this collab's cachet? Some items are already selling out. So if you're in the market, you better get moving. Just don't tell your home team-unless of course you're from Boston or Los Angeles. In which case, lucky you! (But I still don't like your team.)
