Donald Trump Talks Feud with Alec Baldwin, 'SNL' on 'Today'

President-elect Donald Trump called in to the Today show after being named Time magazine’s Person of the Year, and among the topics of discussion with host Matt Lauer was Trump’s continued use of Twitter, particularly to disparage Saturday Night Live. Trump goes after SNL seemingly every weekend for its skits involving Alec Baldwin’s impersonation of him, and Lauer had a very logical solution to that problem.

Lauer asked Trump, “Can we agree, President-elect Trump, that at this stage it would be better for you to simply stop watching SNL as opposed to watching it and then complaining about it?”

“Well, I hosted SNL when it was a good show, but it’s not a good show anymore,” Trump responded. “First of all, nothing to do with me, there’s nothing funny about it. The skits are terrible.”

Trump then moved on to Baldwin, saying, “I like Alec, but his imitation of me is mean-spirited and not very good. I do like him, and I like him as an actor, but I don’t think that his imitation of me gets me at all, and it’s meant to be very mean-spirited, which is very biased, and I don’t like it.”

Trump then switched his attention back to SNL, saying the way the show is going, it won’t be on that long anyway. Lauer disagreed with that sentiment.
