The Reagan family has gone through so much on Blue Bloods, but perhaps the most heartbreaking thing to happen to the law enforcement crew was losing Linda.

Linda (Amy Carlson) was married to Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), and the characters had two young kids. But she was killed off out of nowhere in 2017. Danny spent much of last season avenging her death, but that will never bring her back. Though she did stir up suspicions with a cryptic tweet…

As it turns out, Donnie was just as affected by his on-screen’s wife absence as Danny. He recently spoke about the iconic Reagan family dinners, and said that the first without Amy was the hardest.

“The first dinner scene without Linda was really emotional, just genuine emotion,” he told TVInsider. “Nobody was acting that day. My tears were real, because even though in real life, Amy Carlson was still around, I was going to be moving forward on the show without her.”

He continued that even handling the two actors that play his sons was more challenging without Amy. “I wouldn’t have a partner anymore to help me with these boys—on-screen and off, to be frank. It’s a big loss, and I’ll always remember the emotion of that day," he said.

That just goes to show how close the cast feels to each other. Which we already knew, because while those meals may be “miserable” to film, according to Tom Selleck, the stars also treasure them as a time to catch up with each other.
