Doug Ford makes his infamous cheesecake ahead of long weekend
Ontario Premier Doug Ford left some members of his constituency wondering what he meant by an ambiguous Twitter post on Tuesday, asking people to stay tuned while closing the message with #cheesecake.
It turns out there was no ulterior motive or messaging, as Ford merely was excited to share his cherry cheesecake recipe with the rest of the province ahead of the upcoming long weekend.
Ford posted a two-minute video titled “Cooking With Doug” on Friday where he makes the dessert and shared the origin of the recipe.
“If I wasn’t premier, I would open up a cheesecake factory,” Ford said.
This long weekend try making my famous cheesecake! I’ve been making this recipe for years and it always brings back good family memories. Show us your #OntarioSpirit and share your baking videos! #cheesecake #washyourhands pic.twitter.com/sfA9K4epki

Ford, at times, has drawn praise from some of his toughest critics for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
His cheesecake recipe, however, was far more polarizing.
this makes food, the very concept, look disgusting. it’s like a Tim & Eric bit. https://t.co/3vgEWavP0B

The cheesecake looks great Premier @fordnation.
Can we get an update on how our parents and grandparents are doing in long term care homes?
Or what action you're taking to increase testing?
Or contact tracing?

He cares deeply about the province, he's done a wonderful job during the pandemic, but if this recipe isn't delicious, there is gonna be revolt. 😄😄

Forced to stay inside for the majority of the long weekend, making a cheesecake is a pretty good way to spend the time, but let’s hope your desserts draw less scrutiny than the Premier’s.
