Some downtown roads to be closed for Sunday's Aga Khan World Partnership Walk

Some roads in downtown Toronto will be closed or partly closed on Sunday due to the Aga Khan World Partnership Walk.

The city said the affected roads will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accommodate the walk. The funds raised will contribute to international development. The walk is being held in 10 Canadian cities this year.

Roads to be closed are in the area bounded by John Street to the west, Wellington Street to the south, University Avenue to the east and Queen's Park Circle to the north.

University Avenue, from Wellington Street to Queen's Park Circle, will be closed in both directions from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. during the walk itself.

Aga Khan Foundation Canada is an international development organization and a registered charity.

The World Partnership Walk is an event that began in Vancouver in 1985 and grew into an annual event. It has raised more than $100 million in support of international development since then.
