MONTREAL — A 26-year-old man has been arrested following five collisions late Friday night on Highway 40 in Montreal.
Provincial police say emergency responders were called at around 11 p.m. to Highway 40 eastbound in the borough of Anjou.
Officers say they found a man in his 40s in critical condition who was rushed to hospital, and say they no longer fear for his life.
The young man was arrested at the scene, and a sample was taken to determine his blood alcohol level.
Sûreté du Québec spokesman Sgt. Marythé Bolduc says he could face charges of impaired driving, dangerous driving and drug trafficking.
Police were not able to specify the circumstances of the collisions, but said they were not a pile-up.
The highway was reopened around 4 a.m.
