Update: Driver who died in Highway 132 collision east of Waterford is identified
The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office said Jesse Villarreal, 32, of Modesto was the driver killed in a crash on Highway 132 east of Waterford.
The California Highway Patrol reported earlier that the collision happened at about 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, in the area of Rushing Road.
The CHP said Villarreal was driving east in a 2005 Saturn sedan and crossed illegally over double yellow lines to pass other vehicles. The car collided with a westbound 2007 Nissan pickup truck driven by Miguel Hernandez, 33, of Modesto, the news release said.
Hernandez was treated for moderate injuries at Doctors Medical Center, the CHP said. His passenger, who was not identified, went to Memorial Medical Center with major injuries, the release said.
It said officers still are investigating whether the Saturn driver was impaired by alcohol or drugs, but they determined that the pickup driver was not.
