Update: Driver who died during chase with SC law enforcement on Horry County road named
A driver trying to evade police crashed near Loris early Monday morning, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol
The accident happened at 6:34 a.m. on Daisy Road near Tansy Road, according to Lance Cpl. Lena Butler in an email.
The person was driving a 2008 Mercury Sedan and was being chased by SCHP, according to Butler. During the chase, the vehicle went off the side of the road, rolled several times and then struck a tree.
Martin Channing McFeely, 38, of Loris, was the only person in the vehicle and died on the scene from his injuries, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden in an email.
Horry County Police is investigating the accident, Butler said.
