Woman hospitalized after smashing into Aventura boutique, cops say. No one else hurt
A woman is hospitalized after she crashed into a closed boutique store at a popular Aventura shopping plaza Thursday morning, according to Aventura Police. No one else was injured.
At about 9:57 a.m., a white four-door Audi crashed into the JDO Couture Dress Shop at the Promenade Shops, 20335 Biscayne Blvd., police said in a release.
Police are investigating what caused the crash.
The dress shop, which normally opens at 11 a.m., was closed. The boutique specializes in prom dresses and gowns.
The 63-year-old female driver, whom police did not identify, was transported to Aventura Hospital. Her condition remains unknown.
Security footage from the business next door, Aventura Salon 21 Nails & Spa, shows the driver attempting to park before accelerating into the store.
A friend of the store owner, who wished not to be named, said she arrived at the boutique soon after the accident occurred. Although the driver seemed shocked, she didn’t appear to be seriously hurt, the store owner’s friend added.
She told the Herald the owner is just happy no one sustained substantial injuries, underscoring the only damage was material.
