Drivers told to avoid major city route after crash

A Nottingham road is closed in both directions after a serious crash overnight.

Nottinghamshire Police said on Thursday the A611 Hucknall Road in Carrington was closed between Claremont Street and Alexandra Street.

Police say the road is expected to re-open later on Thursday morning and advised motorists to avoid the area.

The force confirmed further information would be released later in the day.

Nottingham City Transport confirmed Brown 15,16 and17 buses are diverting via Haydn Road and Sherwood Rise in both directions.
