Stunning aerial footage reveals a sight that might put some doubt in your mind the next time you feel like going for a dip in the ocean.

Jason Griffeth was flying his new drone with a camera attached on the morning of Jan. 20 around an inlet in Fort Pierce, Fla., when he spotted an alarming sight in the water.

“As I got about 300 feet in the air, I noticed there was some big fish swimming out near the surfers,” Griffeth told WPBF News. “I was like, ‘Those kind of look like sharks.’”

Upon closer inspection, Griffeth suddenly realized it was in fact sharks getting precariously close to surfers and paddleboarders in the clear blue water.

“And I was kind of freaking out because I had no way to notify the surfers because I was so far away with the drone,” Griffeth said.

He watched the video feed from his phone nearly a mile away as the sharks patrolled and even chased other fish in the water just off the beach, all while the humans in the ocean appeared to be none the wiser.

Fortunately, there was no confrontation between the sharks and beachgoers that day, but the experience did leave a lasting impression on Griffeth.

“It makes me think twice about going surfing at the Fort Pierce Inlet,” he said.
