Dua Lipa Seemingly Addresses Her Split From Anwar Hadid
From the summer of 2019 singer Dua Lipa and model Anwar Hadid became one of our favourite celebrity couples.
The younger brother of Gigi and Bella Hadid and one the UK's best selling female singers of all time first triggered the Internet rumour mill into motion when a video was published of them enjoying Anwar's birthday together in July 2019.
In the months that followed, the pair were spotted jetting off to the likes of London, Kosovo and the Netherlands together for some quality one-one-one time, and have supported each other during family heartaches and career triumphs, no more so than during the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, several publications have now reported that the pair may have split after two years.
After going 'Instagram official' in August 2019 and being spotted sitting FROW and London Fashion Week over the years, we take a look back at the couple's most adorable relationship moments:
January 25, 2021: Dua Lipa seemingly addresses split from Anwar Hadid
In an interview with WSJ. Magazine, Lipa opened up about keeping her relationship details private, while appearing to address conversations around her split from Hadid.
She told the publication: 'Something that I've realised over time is how little people actually know.
'I’ve made peace with the fact that people can think what they want to think, but no one really, truly knows what’s happening behind closed doors.
She continued: 'My circle’s really tight, my family and my friends keep me so grounded, and it gives me some kind of comfort that not everything is out there that would take away from your life and privacy.'
December 20, 2021: Anwar Hadid and Dua Lipa reportedly split
After weeks of rumours about the status of the pair's relationship on the celebrity gossip Instagram account Deux Moi, The Sun has reported that the couple haven't been seen together in eight weeks due to their work schedules and may be taking time apart.
A source told the publication: 'The couple floated the idea about putting the brakes on their romance last month as travelling so much and being apart is proving tough. Their relationship is going through a crisis and appears to be on the rocks.'
The last time Hadid shared a picture of the two of them together was in November.
Of course, just because you don't share pictures of your other half regularly on social media doesn't necessarily signal a split, but rumours the pair have called time on their relationship have been circling for quite some time.
August 22, 2021: The Hadid family wish Dua Lipa 'happy birthday'
Lipa's long-term boyfriend Hadid shared a photo of the 'Love Again' singer on Instagram.to celebrate her birthday with the caption: 'Happy birthday girl of my dreams, love u forever and always [sic].'
His sisters, models Gigi and Bella, also shared their well wishes on the star's big day, with the youngest sister dubbing Lipa her 'twinning fairy princess'.
Matriarch Yolanda Hadid similarly posted a picture of herself with the birthday girl and another of Lipa and Hadid with the caption: 'Happy birthday to our sweet angel…. I pray that each day Love, health and happiness will come your way. Thank you for being you and for loving my son the way that you do. You are an incredible addition to our family- I cherish and appreciate you today and everyday of the year!! I love you. [sic]'
The singer replied: 'I love you Yolanda soooo much ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for your kindness and love xx. [sic]'
August 19, 2021: Dua Lipa cosies up to Bella Hadid during holiday with Anwar Hadid
The singer is continuing to enjoy her trip oversees with her family and friends and has shared the sweetest carousel of images of herself sunning it up with Bella Hadid.
In snaps, shared on the model's Instagram account, Lipa poses in a purple satin bikini and mulicoloured 1960s-inspired mini skirt with her boyfriend's sister Bella, who is dressed in a sunset-inspired orange and brown bikini. Another photo shows the pair enjoying drinks together in the sunshine.
In another photo Lipa is seen wrapping her arm around her boyfriend and looks lovingly into his eyes.
'Love you guys,' commented Anwar's mother Yolanda.
June 23, 2021: Dua Lipa posts sweet message for Anwar Hadid's birthday
The youngest Hadid sibling turned 22 on June 22 and was met with a flurry of adoring birthday tributes from his loved ones, including his girlfriend of two years, Lipa.
The Grammy winner posted a series of loved up photos of the couple, including several with their shared puppy Dexter, writing: 'You make my world so much better!! I’m lucky to love you and be loved by you.'
The adorable post has since been liked more than 3.2 million times with commenters enamoured by the singer's very public outpour of affection.
'My favourite love,' wrote Hadid's older sister Bella, while singer Kylie Minogue commented 'Toooo cute'.
Agreed, Kylie.
March 14, 2021: Anward Hadid Celebrates Dua Lipa's Grammy win
On Sunday evening at the 2021 Grammys, Lipa delivered a dazzling medley performance of her hit songs 'Levitating' and 'Don't Start Now' - and by dazzling, we mean she literally dazzled in glitter and custom-made Versace fuschia outfits - and also walked away with her very own award for Best Pop Vocal Album for Future Nostalgia.
After the show Lipa celebrated with her team and Hadid, which she revealed on Instagram the day after the ceremony.
Adorably, Hadid - who had been waiting at home for the singer (the Grammys were super restricted this year due to Covid-19 social distancing protocols) - had decorated their home with 'DUA', heart-shaped and Pikachu balloons as well as papier machê butterflies, which co-ordinated with her after party Versace mini dress perfectly.
Clearly touched by the gesture, Lipa shared a montage of the celebratory photos including a selfie of Lipa and Hadid, writing: 'all the 🦋🦋🦋 in da world waiting 4 me [sic]' and thanking her 'angel boy' boyfriend Hadid for the gesture.
February 14, 2021: Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid share matching Valentine's Day photos
The couple marked February 14 in 2021 by sharing identical Valentine's Day posts on Instagram.
Cuddling up in what appears to be desert land, the pair are seen kissing in one photo and looking lovingly into each other's eyes in another.
'My valentine❤️ thankful for ya girl wonder, [sic]' Hadid captioned the post, prompting his girlfriend to reply 'I love you [sic]' in the comments section. 'My shnoopilooples, [sic]' added Hadid's sister, Bella.
Meanwhile, the singer captioned her photo: 'THE ONE 4 MY ❤️ ~ Happy V-Day Lovers xx [sic].'
December 6, 2020: Dua Lipa Shares Adorable Snap with Anwar
Lipa and Hadid appear to still be enjoying both each others company and great food.
On Sunday, the singer shared a sweet instagram story post of her and beau Hadid in what looks to be an Albanian restaurant in the Bronx, New York.
In a series of uploads, Lipa shared the photo with her and Anwar captioning it 'Mi Lovieeeeee' [sic], before reposting the kind thank you she received from the restaurant for her continued support.
Lipa has been seen spending more time with Hadid in the US, since the pair spent the majority of lockdown in London.
September 15, 2020: Dua Lipa returns to Hadid farm with Anwar
Lipa and Hadid appear to have returned to his mother's Pennsylvania farm as Gigi Hadid is expected to give birth any day now.
On Wednesday, the 'Don't Stop Now' singer shared a photograph of her and Anwar's dog, Dexter, at the farm in front of two baby lambs. She captioned the photo: 'tinies together. [sic]'
A day earlier, the singer shared a photograph of their puppy at the farm where Malik and Gigi are believed to have been staying during lockdown with the caption 'farm life'.
The pregnant model commented on the snap 'omg cousins [sic]' with a dog and blanket emoji.
Last week, Lipa and Hadid were spending some quality time together in Palm Springs before he becomes an uncle.
September 7, 2020: Dua Lipa enjoys night out in Palm Springs with Anwar Hadid
On Tuesday September 7, the 25-year-old shared a series of photos of her and Hadid cuddling each other during their hike in Palm Strings.
In the snaps, Hadid wears a Marine Serre moon print vest top, black leggings and white trainers while he beau sports an unbuttoned shirt and navy trousers.
The photos see the model giving his girlfriend a piggyback ride, selfies and the pair gazing into each other’s eyes.
Lipa has increasingly been spending more time with Hadid in the States during the pandemic since the pair spent the majority of lockdown in London.
August 14, 2020: Anwar stars in Dua Lipa's new music video
After becoming parents to a new puppy in July, Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid have taken their relationship to the next level once again. This time, it's professional.
Showing his support for girlfriend Lipa's music career, Hadid made a surprise appearance in her new 'Levitating (feat. Madonna and Missy Elliott) [The Blessed Madonna Remix]' video. We see the couple looking loved up as usual, lying in a field of psychedelic poppies together. Can someone say #couplegoals?
July 31, 2020: Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid become puppy parents
The couple have announced they are now parents to an adorable puppy named Dexter.
On Friday July 31, the singer shared a photograph of their new canine on Instagram, describing him as their ‘tiny bestfriend’.
‘Thank you @thelabellefoundation,’ the former ELLE UK cover star wrote, tagging the Los Angeles-based animal rescue centre where they adopted the pup. ‘HE'S PERFECT.’
Anwar's pregnant sister, Gigi Hadid, also gushed about the family’s latest addition.
‘My nephew A VERY GOOD BOY DEXTO FROM ABOVE,’ she wrote on Lipa’s pictures.
July 8, 2020: Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid move to the US during the pandemic
Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid have been reunited with the model’s family in the US after spending lockdown in London.
On Monday, Anwar’s mother Yolanda shared a photograph of the ELLE UK cover star on the back of her boyfriend, with the couple smiling at the camera.
Another photo sees the 21-year-old cuddling up to his Dutch mother, who has been staying at her Pennsylvania farm with her daughters, Bella and Gigi, during the majority of the Coronavirus pandemic. It is believed that Gigi, who is currently pregnant, is still at the family home.
‘My tribe complete #Family,’ Yolanda captioned the photos.
Prior to their return to the US, the couple were on holiday in St Lucia.
During their trip, the loved-up couple shared several photos of themselves enjoying the sunny climes of the Caribbean.
June 15, 2020: Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid celebrate one year of dating
Lipa and Hadid are celebrating one year of dating and have taken to Instagram to gush about having each other in their lives.
Earlier this week, the 24-year-old singer posted a series of candid photographs of herself and the model over the last year with the caption: ‘Nothing sweeter than 365 days joint at the hip with you.’
‘1 year ago today we went on our first date... crazy how the best times fly by so quick @anwarhadid I love you [sic],’ she added in an Instagram Story of a bouquet of flowers.
On Monday, Anwar shared a snap of the couple in matching black outfits and revealed their possible nicknames for each other: ‘Sharkboyy and lava girl.’
The couple are still believed to be in lockdown in London together.
May 26, 2020: Anwar Hadid shares photos with Dua Lipa before lockdown
Anwar Hadid has taken to Instagram to share several photos and videos of him and his girlfriend Dua Lipa before lockdown.
In the UK, the government enforced lockdown on March 23 with measures that prohibited gatherings of more than two people, permitted people to leave their homes only to buy food, medication or to exercise once a day and to travel to work if ‘absolutely necessary’. The measures have since been formally reviewed and marginally relaxed.
In recent weeks, Lipa and Hadid have been at home at an Airbnb in London which the model’s family reside at his mother’s Pennsylvania farm in the US.
In the post, Hadid and Lipa cuddle up in a video and pose for the camera in another. One post sees the model driving along in a sunny location.
‘You guys are sooooo sweet [sic],’ commented on Instagram user.
‘Hottt coupleee [sic],’ added another.
May 11, 2020: Dua Lipa reveals Anwar Hadid slipped into her DMs before they began dating
Dua Lipa and Lena Dunham have been discussing times they’ve found themselves flirting with celebrities on social media.
On Monday, the pair appeared on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live and answered a question about whether they’d ‘ever slid into another celebrity's DMs for some light flirting’.
The pair both answered ‘yes’ and were offered ‘bonus points’ by Cohen if they would specify which celebrities they spoke to.
'Honestly, I'm gonna say something. I'm gonna say something. It was one of the Skarsgard brothers and I can't remember which,' Dunham admitted, adding that the response was ‘cozy’.
The Skarsgard brothers include actors Alexander, Gustaf, Bill and Valter.
Lipa added that she flirted with her now boyfriend Hadid on social media.
‘I have a confession to make and mine was my boyfriend, so my current boyfriend,' she said, referring to the 20-year-old.
The singer continued, noting that she and the model met in real life at a barbecue before messaging each other on social media.
The couple are currently self-isolating in London together.
April 1, 2020: Dua Lipa says she has a flat in NYC with her boyfriend Anwar Hadid
During an interview on Jessie Ware's podcast Table Manners earlier this week, the singer revealed that she and Hadid share a flat together in New York City.
'Me and my boyfriend have a flat there but because I was meant to go on tour at the end of April, we were meant to not carry on our lease,' she told the podcast hosts.
'We were meant to go back to New York but that got obviously canceled because of the travel ban so we still have a flat there but I haven't been in a little while.'
It's unknown whether the couple own or rent the flat together, but living together is a pretty big step in their relationship, regardless.
During a discussion on the Lorraine show on Tuesday, the singer explained that she’s currently staying in 'a random Airbnb' in London with boyfriend after returning home from her Australia tour to find her flat flooded and adhering to the government’s ‘stay home’ advice.
'I’m still in the airbnb, it’s all good,' she told the ITV programme. 'My boyfriend and I are used to it, we travel a lot so we can make anywhere home. I got back from Australia and when the self-isolation thing started to happen, I quickly had to find a spot.'
The star continued, explaining how she and Hadid spend their days during self-isolation. 'We’re good at doing our own things and then coming together when we want to watch a movie or do a painting and we go on our one hour daily walk,’ she added.
March 10, 2020: Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid attend the singer’s parents’ anniversary dinner
The ‘Physical’ singer was seen walking hand-in-hand with her boyfriend Hadid after they attended her parents’ 25th wedding anniversary dinner at The Ivy Asia St Paul’s in London on Tuesday March 10.
The 24-year-old wore a pair of red leather culottes, a Balenciaga biker jacket, a black embellished cardigan and a pair of woven heels by Bottega Veneta.
Meanwhile, her model boyfriend wore a T-shirt, grey trousers and trainers for the family outing.
Earlier in the day, the singer shared an Instagram post to celebrate her parents’ marriage milestone.
‘Today is my parents 25th wedding anniversary... the strongest love I know,’ she captioned a photograph of the couple on the beach together.
26 December: Dua Lipa And Anwar Hadid Snuggle Up At The Grammy Awards
On Sunday 26 January, the couple cosied up together at the 62nd Annual Grammy Award in Los Angeles.
The pair hit the red carpet, with Lipa wearing a corset-shaped, ivory-coloured two-piece top and skirt and Anwar in a black suit, with their arms around each other as they posed for photographs.
During the ceremony, the 24-year-old shared several videos of herself including one of her kissing her boyfriend of six months on the cheek.
The couple later shared a photograph of each other walking into the venue on Instagram.
December 17, 2019: Dua Lipa shares private jet photo with Anwar Hadid
The singer has hinted she might be spending Christmas with her boyfriend.
On Tuesday 17 December, the 'New Rules' star shared a series of photos on Instagram of her and Hadid walking towards a private jet in a sunny location.
'OMW,' she captioned the series of snaps, which feature two photos of her boyfriend carrying her as they go to board their flight.
In response, Gigi Hadid commented on the post 'YEAH!!' while the model's mother posted a love heart emoji on the comment section.
November 26, 2019: Bella Hadid comments on Anwar's latest PDA Instagram photo with Dua Lipa
Model Bella Hadid has taken to her younger brother's Instagram account after he posted a pretty PDA-packed photograph of him kissing his girlfriend against a bus.
In a series of three photo, Lipa appears to have her legs wrapped about her beauty's torso as they share a loving embrace. In the second photo, Anwar's friend Chass Bryan mocks the couple by pretending to kiss a cardboard box.
Anwar captioned the snap: 'BE HAPPY SOON BEFORE U FORGET HOW [sic].'
Amused by the photo, Bella commented: 'Chass the second pic I cannot.'

Almost six months into their relationship, Hadid and Lipa's romance appears to be going from strength to strength.
On Sunday, the pair cosied up together on the American Music Awards red carpet in Los Angeles.
During their paparazzi moment, the singer told Entertainment Tonight: ‘My date is my boyfriend. He's so handsome, right?’
For the occasion, the ‘New Rules’ singer wore a hot pink satin floor-length dress with a thigh-high slit and an oversized black bow on her hip.

Following a celebrity-filled party on Saturday night - attended by the likes of Gigi Hadid and Lily-Rose Depp - Bella Hadid has posted several photo of her hanging out with her family members at her 23rd birthday celebrations.
On Monday 14th October, the model shared a series of images of herself with her family including her mother Yolanda, sister Gigi, brother Anwar and the latter's girlfriend, singer Dua Lipa.
In another photo shared by the birthday girl, the 'New Rules' singer can be seen cosying up to her. Bella's younger brother commented on the post with four red heart emojis, suggesting he appreciates his sister's support of his blossoming romance with the award-winner.
October 1, 2019: Anwar and Dua Lipa coordinate hair colours
As the old adage goes, 'actions speak louder than words'.
And this has never been more true than the moves of Hadid and Lipa in recent days who have shown their love for each other by dyeing their hair a similar bleached brassy blonde.
The singer showed off her newly-dyed tresses on Instagram, captioning a hotel room selfie: 'A new era! Thank you for your patience. See you soon #DL2.'
The dye job came days after Hadid debuted his blonde hair on Instagram a week prior.
September 17, 2019: Anwar supports Dua at YSL New Fragrance launch party
Hours after attending the Burberry show during LFW, Hadid was spotted attending the YSL New Fragrance launch party at Somerset House in London to support his girlfriend.
The 24-year-old singer took to the stage for a performance in front of her family, boyfriend and fans wearing a sheer black bustier top and leather shorts.
Joining her loved ones later on for the party, the 'New Rules' star changed into a sheer black mini dress with a thick waist belt, tights and black high heels and posed with her beau for photos.
September 16, 2019: Anwar and Dua look smitten at Burberry show
The Hadid family have officially descended on London Fashion Week.
On Monday, model sisters Gigi and Bella walked in Riccardo Tisci’s third collection for Burberry, which was a true celebration of the UK’s identity and bursting with Victoriana corset belts, plume-feathered evening dresses and trench coats.
Sitting FROW to support the duo were Lipa and boyfriend Hadid. For the occasion, the pair were spotted in Burberry-inspired muted tones of camel, black and white.
Model Hadid sported an all Burberry-inspired ensemble, teaming a bomber jacket with the fashion house's signature brown check with a pair of caramel-coloured trousers and checkered trainers. Meanwhile, Lipa wore a sheer black panelled skirt with an oversized knitted monochrome jumper and a black bralet.
Exiting the show, hand-in-hand, the pair couldn't help but smile, presumably because a) they're loved-up, and b) the show has saved our wardrobes for spring/summer.
September 11, 2019: Couple wear coordinating outfits
Forget gushing Whatsapp messages and bringing a cup of coffee to a loved one’s bedside in the morning, because it appears that the true sign of a strong relationship is to coordinate your outfit with your significant other.
Following in the footsteps of Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter and Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas, Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid are the latest pairing to go ‘matchy matchy’ with their attire during New York Fashion Week.
The couple made one of their first official appearances as a couple at the Marc Jacobs show and sat on the FROW to watch Hadid's older sisters Bella and Gigi walk the runway.
For the star-studded show – which took place in a gymnasium – the ‘New Rules’ singer teamed a bright yellow mini skirt with a white scallop trim with a blue T-shirt emblazoned with a cartoon dog on the front.
She accessorised the look with a pair of heart-shaped pink earrings, a multi-coloured envelope bag and white high heels.
Meanwhile, model Hadid styled his Converse trainers with a pair of Rupert Bear-inspired yellow trousers, a white long-sleeved sweater with a cartoon character printed on the front and a pearl necklace with a turquoise heart-shaped pendant.
Gigi later posted a picture of her brother and Lipa on her Instagram Stories with the caption ‘kk love these 2 so much [sic]’, which the singer 'regrammed' with red love heart emojis.
September 2019: Dua goes to Netherlands for Hadid family funeral
The singer joined Hadid's family at his grandmother’s funeral in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Gigi, Bella and their mother Yolanda were photographed standing with the singer and Anwar for the family occasion.
August 2019: The couple go Instagram official
During the summer, the pair headed back to Lipa's birthplace, Kosovo, to party at a festival together.
To celebrate the occasion, the singer and model shared image on social media of themselves enjoying the festival's music together, marking the first time the pair featured on each other’s Instagram profiles.
Weeks later, Lipa posted a photograph on Instagram of herself on a night out with a group of friends in Los Angeles. In the snap, Anwar can be seen among her pals.
July 2019: They attend an awards show together
Despite not making a joint red carpet appearance together, the pair attended the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards and were spotted cuddling up at a table inside the event.
The stars also enjoyed a PDA moment at the British Summer Time Hyde Park music festival in London in July.
June 2019: Dua attends Anwar’s birthday party
Rumours that the pair were an item first hit headlines when The Sun published a video of the pair, in which Lipa is laughing while Anwar holds his birthday cake.
The publication also reported that the couple had enjoyed a ‘string of dates’ in Malibu the week before his birthday.
