Dua Lipa Gives Ultra Hollywood Glam at London Show

Dua Lipa has pulled off a lot of looks on stage ahead of her worldwide tour, mostly dancing around wearing leather short shorts, fishnet tights, and corset tops. But when she performed at the historic Royal Albert Hall in London this week, Lipa went with a more timeless outfit.

The Radical Optimism singer took the stage in London on Thursday, October 17 for a showstopping performance that included her biggest hits — but with a twist. Instead of her usual dance breaks and pop sounds, Lipa sang some of her songs using a 53-piece orchestra, a 14-person choir, and a seven-person band to back her belting vocals. Lipa also welcomed special guest Elton John to join her on stage to perform their song “Cold Heart.”

With the vibe change, Lipa also dressed accordingly, opting for a long, corseted satin red gown custom-made by Jean Paul Gaultier. She was draped with flowing cherry-red tulle and wore extra-long gloves and matching pointed heels to accessorize.

The performance was a special one, particularly for Dua Lipa herself, who grew up in London. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Lipa shared how it had been her dream to perform at the Royal Albert Hall with a massive orchestra behind her.

“Standing in the middle of that room, standing on the shoulders of giants who have performed there before me, the energy of last night will forever be engrained in my heart,” Lipa wrote. “I've always had the urge to reimagine my songs with an orchestral arrangement and who better to do it with than The Heritage Orchestra.”

She continued: “The roars from the crowd last night I think reverberated throughout London. Thank you to everyone who came to join us last night for this very very very special evening. I feel like I could cry just writing this!!! I wanna do it again again again!!!!”
