Duchess Kate and Meghan Markle's royal Christmas outfits compared

Meghan Markle looked absolutely stunning at her first Christmas outing with the royal family as she accompanied fiancé Prince Harry to church at Sandringham on Christmas Day. All eyes were on her stylish $16,956 outfit as the confident bride-to-be linked arms with Harry. Back in 2011, Duchess Kate made her royal Christmas debut with her new husband Prince William, wowing onlookers with a burgundy ensemble which was not dissimilar to Meghan's designer look.

Both Meghan and Kate chose simple, block colours for their Christmas appearances and accessorised with stylish hats, drop earrings and wore their brunette hair down. Meghan's elegant camel wrap coat by Canadian brand Sentaler has been the talk of the internet, with the piece retailing at $1,672. The former actress opted for a modern-style hat by Philip Treacy, boots by Stuart Weitzman, a 'Pixie' bag by Chloe and coordinating cashmere lined gloves by Dents. Her overall look was sophisticated and stylish with a modern twist.

Kate meanwhile, wore a brighter shade for her first royal church outing. The mum-of-two chose a burgundy coat by an independent British designer, which like Meghan's Sentaler coat, also showed classic lines. She accessorised with a velvet hat by designer Jane Corbett, a clutch bag was by Mulberry and suede Mascaro pumps. She completed her look with beautiful green earrings by Kiki McDonough.

On the Wednesday before Christmas, Meghan and Kate appeared together at the Queen's Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace. Meghan was stylish as ever in a lace dress by label Self Portrait. The 'Nightshade Midi' design featured guipure lace short-sleeved bodice with black collar. The lace top was fitted to a black A-line skirt with a grosgrain waistband and flows to the calves, and retails for $508 online. Royal fans will no doubt be looking forward to Kate and Meghan's outfit choices in the coming months!
