Duchess Meghan receives message of support from fellow princess: 'No one deserves that'

At least one fellow royal has spoken out in support of the Duchess of Sussex after a private letter she sent her father, Thomas Markle, was published online. Princess Tessy of Luxembourg, who was once married to Prince Louis of Luxembourg, responded to a tweet posted by Royal Central that featured an article about the duchess.

The tweet read: "The Duchess of Sussex still deserves better than how she has been treated," which prompted the 33-year-old princess to respond: "Absolutely! No one deserves that. One should never assume. Either you know or be quite, it's not nice to talk badly about someone else just because one can, as he or she takes advantage of the anonymity of the web. Stay kind!!! It's the new cool! She does not deserve that."

The Royal Central piece called for an end to the writing and publishing of factually incorrect stories about the mom-to-be. "Things won’t get better unless we commit to making it better. We need to commit to making it better. The media, the trolls, all of us in the middle. The media needs to invest in factual stories. The trolls need to recognise that their words have negative power (and the rest of us need to recognise our own power in devaluing their words). We in the middle need to commit to not feeding the negativity."

It also praised the former actress for her charity work and the joy she's brought to Prince Harry's life. "I believe she has the power to be a positive force for the monarchy. She already is a positive force for the monarchy," author Jessica Isle wrote.

This is the second public message of support that the 37-year-old duchess has received over the past few weeks. In early February, Meghan's friends and co-stars spoke candidly about some of the negative stories that have been circulating about the mom-to-be.

One of her former co-stars told People: “Meg has silently sat back and endured the lies and untruths," while another co-star added: "We worry about what this is doing to her and the baby. It’s wrong to put anyone under this level of emotional trauma, let alone when they’re pregnant.”

Her friends went on to note that the duchess the public sees on walkabouts – smiling at onlookers, engaging with royal lovers – is representative of who she is in her private life. “When you see her at walkabouts, when she crouches down to talk to the kids and genuinely has real conversations with people, that’s Meg,” her former co-star said. “That’s how she crouches down with our kids at home. That’s how she plays with them. That’s how she engages with people and how she always has.”
