Dumbfounded Canadiens fans react to P.K. Subban trade
"Insane!" "Ridiculous!" "A disgrace!"
Fans of the Montreal Canadiens sure had a lot to say after local hero P.K. Subban was sent to Nashville in a shocking trade for Shea Weber. In fact, if you'll allow me to borrow the parlance of the 90's rock band Extreme, some fans expressed their distaste for the trade with more than words.
It had to burn. #Subban #Canadiens #Habs #Montreal #firebergevin pic.twitter.com/MwgZ8fCjdr

We wouldn't comdemn you if you felt that burning Subban's jersey was a bit offside. It's not like P.K. held a one-hour TV special with ESPN to announce he's taking his talents to Nashville.
Yet while it was a little bit much, the tweet above certainly did capture the mood of the Canadiens fanbase quite well. Subban meant just as much to the city of Montreal as he did to its hockey team. From a Canadian-record $10 million donation to a local hospital, to playing street hockey with the local children, P.K. Subban meant the world to the city of Montreal.
And it's safe to say the city of Montreal meant the world to P.K. Subban.

It takes a truly special person such as P.K. Subban to remain so optimistic after such a shocking turn of events. Which is partially why the Montreal faithful took to Twitter in droves, airing out their frustrations with the blockbuster trade.
Rest in piece Canadians. Trading off Subban.

The Habs tried to break PK Subban and never could. They couldn't handle him cause he was "different". I'm heart broken

We're about to see Subban play on a new team, with no pressure.... in his prime years. Wow
