The driver of a large dump truck that collided with the Huntmar Drive overpass on Highway 417 Thursday morning has been charged with careless driving.
Ontario Provincial Police police said the driver, a 53-year-old man from Almonte, Ont., was travelling at close to 100 km/h with the dump box raised when the collision occurred.
The large box somehow became wedged under the overpass, slowing traffic in the area.
Eastbound traffic was restricted to the far left lane of the Queensway as emergency crews worked to free the truck's box. The ramp from Palladium Drive to the eastbound lanes of the 417 was also closed.
Workers were able to free the dump truck from the overpass around 3:15 p.m.
The truck driver suffered minor injuries, OPP said.
