Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves spoilers follow.

Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves filmmakers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley have explained just how they managed to land the A-list cameo in the film.

As anyone who has watched the film will already know Bradley Cooper makes a brief appearance in one scene halfway through the film, featuring as Marlamin, the ex-partner of Holga Kilgore (Michelle Rodriguez).

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Goldstein and Daley revealed how they were able to get the A Star is Born actor on board for the appearance - and it turns out that Daley has a history with Cooper.

"I co-starred with Bradley [Cooper] on the show Kitchen Confidential when I was 19 years old, and we appreciated each other’s careers from afar after that experience," Daley explained.

"So when this opportunity came up, we knew we wanted someone to inhabit the role that brought with it this sense of gravitas and just full-on acting chops.

While he can't remember exactly how Cooper's name came up but soon realised he would be the perfect option for the cameo. "We sent him a copy of the unfinished film and he loved it," the director continued.

"So he was ready to jump on board, and it was such an awesome day."

Following its release in cinemas today (March 31) Honour Among Thieves has received widely positive reviews from fans and critics, currently sitting at a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing.

Starring Chris Pine alongside Hugh Grant, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page and Sophia Lillis. The film follows Edgin (Pine) and his group of adventurers as they set out to recover a lost relic.

The film's popularity at box-office has also led to many wondering if there will be a second outing for the board-game based franchise, something which Daley and Goldstein are reportedly up for.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves is out now in cinemas.
