Durham man found shot to death in back seat of car in Johnston County

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred early Sunday morning.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after finding the body of a Durham man fatally shot in a car over the weekend.

Deputies responded around 1 a.m. Sunday to a report of a suspicious person dressed in all black on Holly Grove Road in Benson, according to a news release.

The report said a car at the same location had its emergency flashers on.

The deputy who responded was advised the North Carolina Highway Patrol had also been contacted in case the vehicle had been involved in a motor-vehicle accident.

The trooper, who got there first, found 57 year old Emmanuel Kwame Gbedee dead in the back seat of the vehicle, the release stated.

The Sheriff’s Office has not announced any suspect information or release other details.
