Durham police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man charged with murder in a November shooting.

Chasaray Newman, 40, is accused of fatally shooting LaMarcus Alston, 45, of Durham on Nov. 27, 2024. Alston was found fatally shot in the 1200 block of East Lawson Street about 10:45 p.m.

Police did not provide further details and no court records were available on the case Friday evening. Alston’s death was the second shooting in the McDougald Terrace public housing community that night, The News & Observer previously reported.
