Durham police investigating death in suspected dog attack in home
Durham police are investigating after a man was found dead in a suspected dog attack Friday morning.
Officers were called to what was initially reported as a cardiac arrest in the 2500 block of Fairlawn Road just before 1 1 a.m. A man was found dead inside the home with “injuries consistent with being attacked by a dog,” a police spokesperson said.
The dog, who lived in the same home as the victim, was removed by Animal Control. The dog was euthanized Friday and a necropsy will be conducted with a local veterinarian to determine if the animal was diseased, according to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office.
Police declined to share further details, including the victim’s age and the dog’s breed. The victim’s name has not been released.
