Dwayne Johnson has landed a huge deal with Disney following the early success of Moana 2.

Variety has reported that The Rock's production company Seven Bucks has signed a lucrative multi-year deal with the House of Mouse to create film and streaming projects.

This production pact could involve the development of new movies or TV shows for Johnson to star in, or they could become projects that he simply produces (like he recently did for the Vice series Who Killed WCW?). It may also stretch to involve Johnson in other areas for Disney, like its theme parks.

The deal comes at an opportune time for Johnson since the trailer for his upcoming movie Moana 2 set a new record for Disney with an incredible 178 million views in 24 hours.

Johnson confirmed his new production deal by writing on Twitter / X: "Appreciate all the well wishes and virtual high fives from this announcement.

"THANK YOU FAM. We’re gonna work hard, push the creative, expand, grow our brands and collaborate across Disney divisions and most importantly - serve and entertain the people.

"And now I’m officially one step closer to an INSANELY DELICIOUS @Teremana [tequila] infused @Disney Dole Whip as we walk around the Disney parks."

On top of this year's Moana sequel, Johnson will be reprising his role as the demigod Maui for Disney's live-action remake of Moana.

Last week, it was announced that newcomer Catherine Laga'aia will be playing the Disney Princess, following original star Auli'i Cravalho deciding only to produce the remake.

“I’m really excited to embrace this character because Moana is one of my favorites,” Laga'aia said in a press release.

“My grandfather comes from Fa‘aala, Palauli, in Savai‘i. And my grandmother is from Leulumoega Tuai on the main island of ‘Upolu in Samoa. I’m honored to have an opportunity to celebrate Samoa and all Pacific Island peoples, and to represent young girls who look like me.”

Johnson recently offered a behind-the-scenes update for the live-action Moana before it begins filming this summer, as he took fans into the studio while he re-recorded his character Maui's song 'You're Welcome'.

Moana 2 will be released on November 27, 2024, before the live-action remake arrives on July 10, 2026. The original Moana is available to stream on Disney+.
