Matt James and Lindsay Arnold were voted off Dancing With the Stars this week, and the decision left a lot of fans confused about the show's rules. As Us Weekly reports, Len Goodman saved Kenya Moore and Brandon Armstrong over Matt and Lindsay, even though Kenya and Brandon only got one vote from Derek Hough, and Matt and Lindsay got two votes from Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.
So, basically Matt and Lindsay were in the lead, and then Len's vote evened things out. But many people were confused about why Len voted at all—and why his vote, which technically tied the couples—ended up resulting in Matt going home:
"I’m so confused…Bruno-Matt/Derek-Kenya/Carrie Ann- Matt, then that’s it? Why is len making the final vote?!?!" one fan tweeted, while others voiced similar concerns, writing "I'm confused, Matt and Lindsey had 2 votes to 1, why did Len have to vote? I thought he only voted to break a tie?" and "Excuse me @DancingABC WHAT just happened??? It was 2-1, with Matt in the lead. WHY on earth did @GrumpyLGoodman vote??? And WHY would that then save Kenya??? I am SO confused…"

I’m confused! Why would Len need to cast a vote when it was 2-1 in favour of Matt and Lindsay? #DWTS

Regardless of this confusing voting technicality, Matt doesn't seem too upset about leaving the show, telling E! News, "Nothing ever really catches me off guard anymore. Someone's gotta go home every week, so I'm hoping that Kenya and Brandon freakin' ride out, you know?"
