Dynamo has revealed he has tested positive for COVID-19, explaining that he was tested as he is in a high-risk category due to existing health issues.

The magician, who has previously revealed he has suffered from Crohn's disease and arthritis, posted a video on his Instagram account to explain the news to fans, though said he was thankfully "over the worst of it".

"Hi guys, over the last few weeks I've experienced symptoms such as a persistent cough and lots of aches and pains," he began. "I self-isolated for just over two weeks and took any necessary precautions.

"I was advised to take a private test. Now I appreciate that this is not a possibility for everyone. The decision was made by me and my team for a number of reasons. Firstly, because of my existing health issues and because I'm on immuno-suppressive therapy, I am at high risk.

"Secondly, although I haven't had a fever, my symptoms have been quite severe. And finally, so I was able to inform those who I've been in contact with so that they can make their own precautions."

Dynamo explained that he had tested positive for COVID-19 after getting the results back, adding: "This illness can affect anyone, it doesn't discriminate and it can present itself in many different ways. We're all genuinely at risk.

"Now, touch wood, my symptoms have been gradually decreasing day by day and I've been feeling better and better," he continued.

"Hopefully I'm through the worst of it, and I'm staying positive. But if you're watching this, please, please, please just stay at home. Keep away from others, protect yourselves, your loved ones, the NHS."

The magician went on to praise the key workers during the pandemic, saying: "To the incredible NHS, the key workers out there, the doctors, the nurses, the porters, the people keeping food on our shelves and those people working hard to keep the communities going.

"I think I speak on behalf of everyone out there, thank you so much for the incredible work you're doing. You're genuine heroes and you're in all of our hearts right now, thank you for everything that you're doing."

He also encouraged people to make sure they keep social distancing, concluding: "People please stay at home, stay safe and thanks for taking the time to watch this video."
