Early morning crash near Lamont kills one driver

Saskatoon couple arrested for string of vehicle thefts

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash north of Lamont.

The collision occurred at Highway 831, between Township Roads 562 and 564. Lamont is 60 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.

One of the drivers was killed while the other was transported to hospital. The extent of the persons' injuries are unknown, police said in a statement issued Friday morning.

Highway 831 was closed for several hours because of the crash. It has since reopened.

Police are not releasing the identity of the deceased.

It's not known if alcohol, drugs or speed were factors in the collision.

RCMP are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, or anyone who has information about it, to contact their Fort Saskatchewan detachment.
