Early morning stove fire at Tacoma house spreads rapidly, sends one to hospital
Tacoma firefighters responded to an early morning structure fire early New Year’s Day that rapidly spread through the home.
Via social media, Tacoma Fire reported Wednesday morning that crews responded around 2:14 a.m. to the 1200 block of East 36th Street to the residential house fire.
According to Tacoma Fire media representative Chelsea Shepherd, early indications point to a fire that started on the stove, then rapidly spread upward into the attic.
“The person at the house was cooking at the time,” Shepherd told The News Tribune.
The person was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries; the person’s dog did not survive the blaze.
