Update: Voters pass Modesto City Schools’ bond measure for school facilities. When will construction start?

Unofficial results from Stanislaus County show Modesto City School’s Measure X passed with 12,405 yes votes or 66% of the vote early Wednesday morning, exceeding the 55% of votes it needed to pass.

Measure X will help repair and renovate elementary and middle schools in the district. It would be the fourth measure in six years, following the approval of Measures D and E in 2018 for K-8 facilities improvements and Measure L in 2022 for high schools.

“We are thrilled by the community’s support for Measure X, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to Modesto voters for championing our students and schools.,” said superintendent Sara Noguchi. “This is a tremendous step forward, allowing us to address crucial needs, including transforming aging cafeterias into versatile spaces that serve as dining areas and hubs for school performances, assemblies, and community gatherings.”

The funding is for repairs for cafeterias, bathrooms and other facilities issues at its elementary and middle school campuses.

Last year, when they were preparing for the bond measure, they polled voters and found 65% supported the bond measure.

Construction will start this summer as projects will be decided on soon.
