When we put these inexpensive earphones to the test, we were singularly wowed. According to Executive Editor TJ Donegan, the Mpow Flames sound wonderful and fit well, with an earhook design that allowed them to stay in place even throughout the most rigorous workouts. TJ, who uses an Android device, found they they paired well with his smartphone and offered solid battery life; but lest you think that means Apple devices won't work as well with them, he also revealed that his wife, an iPhone user, enjoys using them as well.
Where the Mpow Flame really distinguishes itself, even against higher-priced true wireless earbuds (like the oft-celebrated AirPods), however, was in the resistance to water. Our lab was able to fully submerge Mpow Flames earphones for 30 minutes as they blasted music. Shock of shocks, not only did these buds keep blaring tunes, when we pulled them out of that wet and slippery abyss, they worked just as well as they did before.
This 4.5-star rated set also has a clear cult-following on Amazon, with shoppers lauding them for their "solid sound" for the price point and their ability to "really cancel out noise," which took more than one shopper by surprise given the value.
