East St. Louis man killed when house collapses on him
A 61-year-old man was killed when the house he was working on collapsed Sunday evening.
The victim, identified by St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. as Kevin L. Rogers, was pronounced deceased at 3:35 p.m. at the scene at 755 N. 41st St., East St. Louis.
The cause of death was blunt force trauma, Dye said.
Ed Wayne, assistant chief of the East St. Louis Fire Department said a neighbor heard a loud boom at the house and called 911. The East St. Louis Fire Department responded at 2:55 p.m.
“He was working on a house and it came straight down on him. It was flat,” Wayne said. “The victim was up under the wood frame house right by the front part of it.”
