Eastern Townships bus driver lockout still unresolved

Despite a day of mediation between the employer and union, some bus drivers in the Eastern Townships are still locked out of work.

The school bus transportation company Sogesco locked out drivers from its subsidiary, Autobus Yamaska, on May 20.

The decision left 930 students from the Eastern Townships School Board and the Val-des-Cerfs School Board scrambling for alternative forms of transportation from Wednesday to Friday.

Both parties sat down for mediation on Friday but there was no resolution.

The union will meet with its members on Sunday to discuss future action.

In the meantime, it's unclear if the bus drivers will be back to work on Monday. The Eastern Townships School Board encourages all parents to keep an eye on its website, which will be updated when there is an update.

The lock-out affects about 20 bus routes in all, in areas including:

- Cowansville.

- Bedford.

- Dunham.

- Farnham.

- Stanbridge East.

- Saint-Armand.
