Ed Sheeran, an early holiday surprise for the cat-loving Swifties out there!

The "Perfect" singer, 32, uploaded a rare image of Meredith Grey, one of Taylor Swift's three cats, to Instagram on Monday, and Swift fans were quick to react.

In the picture, shared by Sheeran as part of a social media photo dump captioned "Dumpington #3," the Grammy winner snuggles up to Meredith while resting on an ottoman.

Wearing a white tee, Sheeran has his face up against the fluffy grey Scottish fold cat, who is shown resting on a sweater and enjoying cuddles from the musician.

Taylor Swift fans flocked to the comments section of Sheeran's Instagram photo carousel and, after identifying the cat, thanked him for giving them an update on the pet. Swift, 33, has previously described Meredith as "private" and not a fan of photos.

"Ed confirming that Mer is alive is the highlight of my week 👏," one fan wrote.

Another added: "END GAME (TAYLOR'S VERSION) WE CHEERED," alluding to Sheeran's potential involvement in a Reputation (Taylor's Version) re-recording session.

While it's not entirely clear what brought Ed and his feline friend together, one thing is for certain — Swift loves her cats!

The "Lavender Haze" singer is the owner of three cats: Benjamin Button, who she met on the set of her "ME!" music video in 2019; Scottish fold Meredith Grey, whom she got in 2011; and Olivia Benson, a Scottish fold she welcomed to the Swift squad in 2014.

Meredith, named after Ellen Pompeo's character in Grey's Anatomy, was previously described by Swift as "the most adorable cat in the world." During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, she explained that "self-quarantining is a way of life" for Meredith, and a year later, she reassured fans about the cat's well-being after some expressed concern about the pet's absence from social media.

"We've been hearing some rumors on the internet recently," Swift said in the X (formerly known as Twitter) video while holding Benjamin Button. "I mean, they're not about you, Benj; they're about your sister."

"The truth is, Meredith just hates having her picture taken," she said. "... So yeah, there it is. There's the explanation. She's just a really private little cat. She likes her business kept to herself. She doesn't like a camera shoved in her face, and who can blame her? So there's your update on Meredith."
