Edmonton Air Canada flight forced to land in Toronto due to 'burnt odour'

The scent of something burning forced an Air Canada flight bound for Edmonton to land in Toronto on Thursday afternoon, the airline has confirmed.

Flight AC127 was carrying 142 passengers when it was forced to turn around and return to Pearson airport Thursday afternoon, after a "burnt odour" was detected, according to an Air Canada spokeswoman.

The plane landed safely and pulled up to one of the airport's gates.

Air Canada said the passengers have been moved to another flight using a different aircraft.
