Edmonton apartment residents angered by racist sign

Some residents of an apartment building on 118th Avenue are angry about a racist sign that was posted on the building's front door.

Chidi Nwofor has lived for the past five years in an apartment building at the corner of 118th Avenue and 37th Street.

Over the weekend, a sign was taped on the front door that asks residents to make sure the door closes properly behind them.

The sign tells aboriginal people to f--- off and warns "savages beware … we're watching you."

"I just looked at it, read it, and the first thing was, I'll just go and take this down, this is ridiculous," Nwofor said.

"I just think it's very insensitive to try and put something up like that, no matter if you do have a problem with somebody in the building. That's not the way to deal with it."

Nwofor said he plans to follow the matter up with building management.

The building's manager declined an interview with CBC, saying they're looking into the matter.
