Edmonton investigators look for cause of house fire in Capilano

Fire investigators were at the scene Wednesday of a house fire in the Capilano area where one person was found dead.

Crews were called out at 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday to a house fire near 64th Street and 109B Avenue.

The fire department said the first crew arrived on scene within five minutes, to find a fully involved fire.

"Firefighters worked within difficult circumstances to get access inside the home because of blocked pathways," fire Chief Ken Block said in a statement.

The fire was under control by 11:24 a.m. and declared out at 12:57 p.m., Block said.

"We are very saddened there was one fatality yesterday," said Block. "According to our internal policies, that is all the information we can provide at this time. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim."

The fire department did not release any information about the person who died.

Fire investigators are still on scene working to determine the cause of the fire. Damage is estimated at $60,000.
