Edmontonians escape outdoors as weather warms

Outdoor enthusiasts in Edmonton are taking full advantage of a much-needed break in the cold weather.

After the cold snap that hung over the city over the Christmas week, temperatures have risen to what people are more used to seeing this time of year.

“I think this is pretty nice. It's like minus 7 out and it's not snowing. No wind. It's kind of sunny. really nice,” said Bronwen Leguerrier, who spent Sunday morning skiing in Hawrelak Park.

Others took advantage of the weather, breaking out skates, sleds and hiking boots.

Birdwatcher Wai Cheung says he takes pictures in all kinds of weather - but things are easier, and more pleasant, now that the cold snap is over.

“It's very good for [photos] outside, take the picture because it's not too cold.”

The relatively mild temperatures are expected to stick around Edmonton for the rest of the week.
