An 81-year-old woman from Tracadie has died following a single-vehicle collision, police said.

An RCMP press release said police were called around 2 p.m. on Monday to a single-vehicle crash on Route 135 in Hacheyville, about 15 kilometres west of Tracadie.

The vehicle's passenger, an 81-year-old woman, died at the scene from her injuries, the release said. The driver, the only other occupant in the vehicle, was transported to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries, police said.

RCMP said the crash is believed to have happened when the vehicle lost control, drove into the ditch and struck a culvert.

The coroner's office and an RCMP crash reconstructionist are helping the investigation. Fire departments from Saint-Isidore and Paquetville attended the scene with Ambulance New Brunswick, the release said.
