Electronic recycling fees to be included on products' price tag in Ontario

The provincial government is revamping its plan for e-waste, by introducing new legislation today that will eventually eliminate the agency Waste Diversion Ontario.

The plan would replace the current eco-fee on electronics with recycling fees included in the products' price tag by manufacturers, according to sources within the Liberal government at Queen's Park.

The intention is to increase Ontario's recycling rate — which is reportedly one of the worst in Canada.
