Years after high-profile romances and one divorce, Elizabeth Hurley says she’d welcome love again — but not necessarily a husband.

“I'd definitely be open to the idea of being loved, loving someone, having someone fantastic in my life and sharing it,” the 54-year-old British bombshell tells Tatler in its April issue (on stands March 5). “I don't know if marriage comes into that to be honest, because I'm not going to have more children, and I don't need anyone to pay my bills or give me a roof over my head. But I would like someone for companionship, fun.”

While covering the magazine’s “First Lady” issue for which she wears a powder-blue Miu Miu suit, Hurley reveals her independent nature. “I personally have never received a penny from anybody, any boyfriend, and husband, in my entire life,” she told the magazine. “I've never wanted to, I've never needed to. My husband and I had the most amicable divorce in the world, and my lawyer said it was the cheapest case she'd ever handled because neither of us wanted anything. I pay for everything myself and I'm very happy that way.”

Almost as famous as the Versace safety-pin dress she wore to Hugh Grant’s 1994 film premiere Four Weddings and a Funeral, is the couple’s 13-year romance which ended in a time-tested friendship. “She’s still my best friend,” Grant told Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen in 2015. “The sex bit probably fizzled out, but she’s my absolute best friend and number one person I’d call in a crisis.”

Later, Hurley told Cohen, “Well, he remains my best friend to this day, but...he used to really annoy me. I mean, I love him, but he’s very annoying,” although she rated their sex life a “10.”

Hurley was also married to husband Arun Nayar from 2007 to 2011, and since their divorce, they’ve been photographed socializing together. And Hurley is raising a 17-year-old son named Damian, who is a model, with businessman Steve Bing. The mother-and-son, who practically look like twins, are close.

The bikini designer and founder of Elizabeth Hurley Beach, is now anticipating her son’s high school graduation. “I could have my millionth midlife crisis, because it will be the first time in 18 years there are no half terms, no school holidays, no school runs or sewing name tapes,” Hurley told Tatler. “And of course I embrace it, but it's a real milestone in Mummy's life.”

Stability is important though — Hurley’s 10-year game plan includes, “Hopefully getting some interesting work, hopefully still living in my house in the country because I love it, and hopefully the garden will be even more exquisite; hopefully my son will be happy... more of the same, and better I guess.”
