Tech billionaire Elon Musk has revealed he has tested positive and negative for COVID-19 on the same day.

The 49-year-old took to social media on Friday (13 November) to tell followers of his confusion after he took four coronavirus tests in one day, with two coming back positive and two negative.

Musk told his 40 million Twitter followers: “Something extremely bogus is going on. Was tested for covid four times today. Two tests came back negative, two came back positive.

“Same machine, same test, same nurse. Rapid antigen test from BD.”

Some concerned fans asked Musk how he was feeling after his revelation.

“Symptoms of a typical cold. Nothing unusual so far,” he answered, later adding: “Mild sniffles & cough & slight fever past few days. Right now, no symptoms, although I did take NyQuil.”

Asked how his symptoms were the following day, he replied: “A little up & down. Feels just like a regular cold, but more body achy & cloudy head than coughing/sneezing. DayQuil rocks.”

The Tesla pioneer was asked by one fan if he thought he had the virus or not.

Musk responded: “Am getting wildly different results from different labs, but most likely I have a moderate case of covid.

“My symptoms are that of a minor cold, which is no surprise, since a coronavirus is a type of cold.”

Musk has been a critic of COVID-19 testing in the past, suggesting anyone who tests positive should “retest”.

Back in June he tweeted: “There are a ridiculous number of false positive C19 tests, in some cases ~50%.

“False positives scale linearly with # of tests. This is a big part of why C19 positive tests are going up while hospitalizations & mortality are declining. Anyone who tests positive should retest.”
