Elon Musk Turns MAGA Civil War Nuclear: ‘F*** Yourself in the Face’
Elon Musk’s war on MAGA has gone nuclear after the billionaire CEO blasted a social media user’s comments about H-1B visas Friday, and former Trump chief strategist Steve Bannon called him a “toddler” for his response.
Musk liked a post that asserted Americans are too “retarded” to fill the country’s tech workforce and supported the idea that top roles should be taken up by “better educated” people from overseas.
In response to Musk’s perceived endorsement of the post, an X user going by the name Steven Mackey reposted a video of Musk from 2021 in which he spoke about SpaceX’s plans for a fully reusable rocket.
“Everyone’s basically—without knowing it—they’ve got a mental straight jacket on. They’ll work on optimizing the thing that should simply not exist,” said Musk in the clip.
Commentators quickly applied Musk’s logic to H-1B, with Mackey asserting that the visas could be “something that shouldn’t exist.”
The reason I’m in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B.
Take a big step back and FUCK YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot…— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) December 28, 2024
A mere six minutes later, the Department of Government Efficiency co-head hit back at the commentator: “The reason I’m in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B.”
He added, “Take a big step back and F--- YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend.”
Bannon jumped on Musk’s outburst as an opportunity to chide the tech leader, writing on Gettr: “Someone please notify ‘Child Protective Services’—need to do a ‘wellness check’ on this toddler.”

Meanwhile Mackey, the original target of Musk’s ire, responded, “I personally am fine with reforming H-1B, and as I’ve stated multiple times today, I am incredibly grateful you and many others are in the country because of H-1B.”
He added, “I do however think it’s appropriate to be critical of a program that is so obviously filled with abuse.”
And—despite being told to “f--- himself” by the tech mogul—Mackey later clarified, “I personally am the biggest fan of Elon on the planet and I always will be.”
Other fans, however, weren’t so impressed by Musk’s threat of “war.”
“Elon, how are we supposed to trust you with defense contracts when you publicly threaten millions of Americans? This is way scary, dude.”
Another commentator added, “You have too much power to behave in Demon Mode with us. It’s terrifying. You can space laser us, or something. Yikes.”
Musk’s AI, Grok, even waded into the argument against its creator, after someone checked whether Musk was an H-1B immigrant.
“No, Elon Musk was not an H-1B visa worker. He is a South African-born Canadian-American entrepreneur who moved to the United States on an F-1 visa for education and later became a U.S. citizen,” Grok stated.
Musk has already taken the festivity out of the Christmas period for many MAGA supporters after he and his DOGE co-head Vivek Ramaswamy seemed to turn against the idea of “making America great again.”
“American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long,” wrote Ramaswamy on X in a Boxing Day message. He added, “A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers.”
After plenty of pushback against the DOGE heads' takes, some X users reported losing their blue checks, including MAGA figurehead Laura Loomer, who publicly condemned Musk and claimed he was using his social media platform for “restricting free speech.”
