Police identify girl, 6, killed in Caledon crash
Ontario Provincial Police have identified a girl, 6, killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle in Caledon on Monday.
Valentina Palermo of Alliston, Ont. died in hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries, the OPP said in a news release on Tuesday.
A man, 36, was also injured in the crash, according to OPP spokesperson Const. Tamara Schubert. The man was transported to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries.
Emergency crews were called to the scene of the crash on Highway 10 between Charleston Sideroad and Olde Base Line Road just before 10:30 a.m.
The OPP said both the passenger vehicle and the tractor trailer were travelling northbound when the crash occurred.
Both the man and the girl were in the passenger vehicle, OPP said.
A section of Highway 10 was closed for several hours to allow officers to investigate.
The investigation is ongoing.
