Meena Jutla is set to commit further heinous crimes. (ITV)

Emmerdale is set for a terrifying special week of killer episodes in the run up to Halloween as murderer Meena Jutla strikes again.

A chilling new trailer from the ITV soap shows frightened characters Charles, David, Victoria, Andrea, Priya, Ellis, Charity and Mack running through a maize maze shrouded in mist, desperately calling out for each other.

But Meena (Paige Sandhu) looms in a black hooded cloak and gives an icy smile as she says: "There's no way out."

Emmerdale has traditionally aired a disaster week each autumn with ruthless storylines killing off characters and often including big stunt pieces.

Last year, the pandemic's filming restrictions put a stop to the special week, but it returns this October with episodes soap fans will not want to miss.

Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks said: "This is Emmerdale at its most ambitious as we take viewers on an exhilarating journey through a series of showstopping stunts.

"As the twists and turns come thick and fast, viewers will be left on the edge of their seats, and with Meena at the heart of the story it means only one thing; not all our villagers will survive.
