Endeavor Content Acquires Jennifer Donnelly Fantasy Novel ‘Poisoned’; 51 Entertainment & Made Up Stories Producing

Jennifer Donnelly’s YA novel Poisoned has been acquired by Endeavor Content. Lynette Howell Taylor’s 51 Entertainment and Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories are producing. Published today by Scholastic Press, the novel is an empowering re-imagining of Snow White. Aided by seven mysterious strangers, Sophie’s journey of survival in the forest while facing a terrifying enemy will forever change the perceptions of strength, power, and the real meaning of “happily ever after.”

It’s the second adaptation in the works for the author, Endeavor Content and the producers, who aim to build a revisionist fairy tale universe of films and TV that lean into badass fairy tale heroines hatched on the page by Donnelly. That started with the author’s 2019 New York Times bestseller Stepsister, a fiercely feminist retelling of Cinderella. Emma Frost (The Spanish Princess, The White Queen) has completed the script for that movie and talks are underway with directors.

Donnelly called Howell Taylor and Papandrea “two extraordinary women with an immense passion for telling stories that challenge us, inspire us, and forever change us. Poisoned’s fierce, formidable, feminist characters are in incredibly talented hands, and I’m so excited to follow them on their journey from the page to the screen.”

Howell Taylor and Samantha Housman will produce on behalf of 51 Entertainment, and Papandrea and Steve Hutensky will produce on behalf of Made Up Stories, with Jeanne Snow and Janice Park serving in a producing capacity.

Donnelly is represented by Writers House and WME. Howell Taylor is represented by Barry Littman at Hansen, Jacobson and Papandrea is repped by WME.
