The picturesque private Norwegian island of Ulvsnes is for sale for a cool £2.4 million.

Situated in the middle of a Norwegian fjord, this idyllic slice of paradise is surrounded by breathtaking mountainside, crystal clear water, beautiful hiking trails and plenty of wildlife. Just a short boat ride from the mainland in Vaksdal, it is an extraordinary opportunity to acquire a completely private retreat.

There's plenty for new owners to enjoy, as the island comes with 23 acres of forest, 30 buildings, a barn, playground, football pitch, 20,000-square-foot main house, and several greenhouses, too.

Over the years, updates have included outdoor sewage pipes, electric inlet cables, fire alarms, insulation and new wooden panels on the buildings. But that's not all: the island has also been adapted for eco-farm operations and is home to horses, sheep, alpacas, pigs and poultry.

Steeped in history, Ulvsnes is believed to have once been a Crown Land, before being ruled by the church. In 1881, it was used as a boarding school for young 'misbehaving boys' and was then used as a low security prison up until last year.

The listing explains: 'The island has a massive potential, be it as a private and exclusive residence or summer home, converted to an exclusive hotel resort or as a holiday rental property with eco-farming possibilities.

'Ulvsnes Island has a wide variety of trees and plants, a football pitch, several bathing spots and spectacular 360 degrees views of the fjords and mountains can be enjoyed from all around the island – there aren't many views that can rival this!'

The island is currently for sale for £2.4 million via James Edition.
