Epic battle rages on the billboards of McDonald's and neighbouring liquor store

It’s not unusual for businesses in strip malls to have large, backlit signs with changeable lettering. You know the ones — they’re usually advertising sales and deals or reminding the public how many billions of customers they’ve served.

Someone at a liquor store in Somerville, Massachusetts, decided to use its sign for an entirely different purpose, which was to straight-up challenge the McDonald’s across the street, reports Bored Panda. What ensued was a snarky yet highly entertaining battle of words that was splashed across their respective signage for all to see.

It all started when McDonald’s decided to advertise a special deal on their sign:

For some reason, this was enough to inspire the indignation of a Sav-Mor Liquors across the street, because their sign soon read, “3 EGG MUFFIN $4 YOUR MOVE MCDONALD’S.”

Never one to back down from a challenge, the McDonald’s fired back with the following: “SAV MORE YOU AINT SEEN MCMUFFIN YET,” to which Sav Mor shot back: “MY BOSS IS ALSO A CLOWN,” and, “I ALWAYS WANTED AN ARCH ENEMY.”

The cringe-worthy punnery continued, and there’s actually nothing to indicate that this back and forth is not still ongoing. In fact, The Boston Globe points out that another Sav-Mor Liquor in nearby Medford has joined the rivalry, posting the following on its sign: “I WISH I HAD A MCDONALDS TO PLAY WITH.”
