Fashion designer Erdem Moralioglu is celebrating his brand's 15-year anniversary in the most "wonderful way" after being awarded with an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to the fashion industry. The designer was among the names revealed over the weekend to receive the prestigious honour.

Moralioglu set up his namesake label in London in 2005 having moved there to study at the Royal College of Art in the UK capital. The brand quickly became known for its ladylike designs and mesmerising floral prints, the likes of which have been worn by many of the most well-known women in the world, from the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge to Alexa Chung, Nicole Kidman, Lily James, Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller, Michelle Obama and many more.

"I am incredibly flattered to be included in the Queen's Birthday Honours List," Moralioglu said in a press release. "I have been truly privileged to be able to do what I love whilst building an independent British label. I can't think of a more wonderful way to celebrate my 15-year anniversary."

Always a highlight of the London Fashion Week schedule, the designer recently opened up to us about the challenges his business has faced during the pandemic and how he has overcome them with hope.

"We had to find ways to carry on working as normal, but just adjusted," he explained. "Whether that be sketching at home, doing fittings via Zoom or filming a show without an audience. We had to carry on. I think that was important – not to just give up. We just had to find different ways of doing what we do."

The designer has been awarded an honour alongside the likes of TV chef Mary Berry, footballer Marcus Rashford and fitness star Joe Wicks, who kept morale going for families during lockdown with his virtual PE lessons.
