The forecast path for Hurricane Ernesto, currently east of Florida and moving north, has shifted to the east, meaning the storm is expected to bypass most parts of the Maritimes.
As the storm was forming it appeared it might bring heavy rain and wind to P.E.I., but CBC meteorologist Trevor Adams said that danger has passed.
"We don't have to worry about it. It's really not going to impact Prince Edward Island," said Adams, adding that it will possibly be an event for southeastern Cape Breton.
Up until early morning Sunday, Ernesto's path appears to be on a direct line for Nova Scotia and P.E.I., but after that it is expected to turn to the east and pass by well off the coast.
